Malaysian International Storytelling Festival

The Malaysia International Storytelling Festival will be held on 10th and 11th September 2011 at Sunway International School and Monash University.  It features performances and workshops conducted by seven master storytellers from around the world.

Dr Wajuppa Tossa is both a performer and educator of the art of storytelling. In 1995, she founded the Mahasarakham University storytelling project which actively promotes the preservation and revitalisation of local dialects and cultural heritage.

Ng Kok Keong is a teacher and a storyteller. As the principle of Tadika Diyana, he promotes the use of storytelling both in the classroom and to parents of the children that attend his kindergarten.

A total of 32 workshops will take place on both the 10th and 11th of September at Sunway International School. In addition, each day will culminate in a fun-filled showcase combining the talents of our international storytellers to be held at Monash University.

Roger Jenkins is a regular on the Singapore storytelling circuit. Using props, puppets and mime, he expertly performs timeless tales capturing the hearts and minds of his audiences.

Jeeva Raghunath grew up amongst excellent storytellers and her own storytelling journey began at the young age of 5. Drawing on true life incidents and cross culture stories, she delivers lively and dramatic performances that keep audiences riveted.

Sheila Wee who is also regarded as the Godmother of Singapore Storytelling is often credited with the revival of Singapore’s storytelling scene. Her large repertoire allows her to create storytelling performances for a diverse range of audiences.

Randel McGee and his puppet pal Groark the Dragon® have been leaving audiences around the world in stitches for almost 27 years. Through an exciting blend of stand up comedy, witty banter and original songs, the duo entertain while imparting important life lessons to audiences.

Hasniah Hussain a.k.a Mama Tok is a Malaysian storyteller who delights audiences of all ages with touching and simple stories which are filled with guidance and good advice.
